This can be a complicated request based on the circumstances of the divorce. If the divorce decree clearly states the nature of the distribution of property specifically naming the vessel (with Vessel Official Number and/or Hull ID), then that document will be required along with a request for Transfer/Exchange to the new owner. If the divorce decree is unclear as to the personal property (i.e. the vessel) then the owners may wish to provide a notarized Bill of Sale/Transfer of interest on the CG-1340 Bill of Sale showing the transfer of interest to the receiving spouse.
