I am currently trying to get the documents on my used sailboat in my name. After receiving the abstract of title, I FOUND THERE WERE A COUPLE OF LIENS on the boat. One lien has been forgiven by the owners of the business. How do I get the liens removed from my boat?

If there are current liens or mortgages on the vessel, a Satisfaction of Mortgage/Lien will need to be provided with the required information by the lender/lienholder.  The information for the Satisfaction form is very specific and can be found on the Abstract of Title.

Once this information has been completed by the lender/financial institution or lienholder, etc. it will need to be submitted to the USCG/NVDC for review and approval.

You may find a blank sample satisfaction or release of mortgage/claim of lien via the link below. This is not to be completed by the vessel owner, but may be submitted by the vessel owner once the document is complete.
