No, Coast Guard Documented vessels do not have titles, but they hold Certificates of Documentation in their stead. Federal law prohibits Documented vessels from possessing State titles, as the Federal Documentation supersedes all State registration.

Although a vessel may be USCG Documented, it may also be registered to a State if the State requires it.

When Documented vessels are sold or transferred, the seller may use the notarized back side of the Certificate of Documentation to facilitate the transfer. CG-1340 Bills of Sale may also be used to complete the transaction.
