If the vessel has been documented with the USCG then Deletion from USCG Documentation (CG-4593) will be required. To verify if the vessel is currently USCG documented, you will need to inspect for a few details:
Does the vessel have a name and hailing port marked on the transom (back) of the boat? If so, it is likely that it is USCG Documented.
Is there an Official Number placard inside the vessel, consisting of 6-7 numerical digits? If so, it is a USCG Documented Vessel.
Was the vessel sold with a Washington State title or with a Certificate of Documentation (CG-1270)? If it had a State Title, it is NOT USCG Documented. If it had a Certificate of Documentation, it is USCG Documented.
If the vessel is confirmed to be USCG Documented, a deletion from Documentation may be processed with a Letter of Deletion. This will allow registration in foreign countries such as Canada. You may proceed to file the Deletion from Documentation via this link:
