The Coast Guard posted a notice inviting comments from owners of vessels on the application for tonnage measurement of vessels, form CG-5397.
The information is used by the Coast Guard to determine a vessel’s tonnage. Tonnage helps to determine licensing, inspection, safety requirements and operating fees. Under46 U.S.C. 14104, certain vessels must be measured for tonnage. Coast Guard regulations for this measurement are contained in 46 CFR part 69.
View the Federal Register notice for further details and information on how to comment.
In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments addressing:
(1) The practical utility of the Collections;
(2) The accuracy of the estimated burden of the Collections;
(3) Ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of information subject to the Collections;
(4) Ways to minimize the burden of the Collections on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.
All comments and related material must be submitted on or before November 17, 2014.
